QUINCY (WGEM) — The need for food in the Tri- States is still great as the pandemic rolls on.
That’s why the Quincy YMCA is continuing its food box drive throughout the month of April.
Thursday was the first of four Thursdays this month when anyone can drive through the YMCA parking lot to pick up a free box of non perishable goods provided by the USDA.
If you choose to come to the drive-thru, you don’t need to bring anything but enough room in your trunk to take a box of food home.
“One of the things that we really appreciate about this, it’s been very rewarding,” said Quincy YMCA CEO Jim Chamberlain.
“Seeing the people that come up and they get the food and we love that they don’t ask questions.”
“There’s no qualifications, no income verification or ID or anything like that. And people, they just share their stories on how much this food has helped them.”
If you missed today the YMCA will host this same drive for the next three Thursdays, all starting at 4pm.
If you would like to help distribute the boxes Chamberlain says to come a little early and they will be glad for your service.
