SANTA MARIA, Calif. – Sergio’s Furniture is back in business after two months since their store went up in flames. The owner has temporarily opened up shop at the Santa Maria Town Center.

Store owner Sergio Diaz said his customers have been anticipating his return.

“A lot of customers, a lot of wanna be customers, are sending me emails.”

Sergio’s store was forced to go out of business after the long time shop burned in a fire on January 3rd.

“It hit me pretty good. I was just stunned when i was watching the fire go, and… depression hit,” he recalled.

The store owner said they lost everything.

“I must’ve lost more than 300 thousand dollars.”

Including all of their paperwork.

“I had to ask people on Facebook to send me their invoices so that I can take care of their orders,” he said.

But that’s all in the past. Sergio said they’re ready for business with a new system of top notch computers, and a better insurance.

“I am definitely in a different frame of mind when it comes to insurance. I’ll pay the extra few dollars,” he laughed.

The store owner, back from the ashes, is looking at this new beginning with a positive attitude.

“I really believe that we’re gonna be successful here in this mall.”’

Sergio expects to re-open at their old location in about six months.

The Santa Maria Fire Department reports the cause of the incident is still under investigation.
