Local church feeds nearly 150 at monthly food drive
WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) – Folks at a Wichita Falls church are doing what it can to help those who need a little extra help.
Solid Rock House of God holds a food drive on the second Saturday of each month. They’ve been doing this for about four years now, and during that time, it’s grown.
When it first started, they fed 23 families and now it’s more than 140 families. The church’s pastor said he’s glad he and his church are able to offer this ministry.
“It was a dream of mine when we started the Solid Rock House of God nine years ago,” Rev. David Sapata said. “It was a dream of mine to feed the community and to feed the families. When God opened up that door, it just brings joy and happiness to my heart.”
Reverend Sapata also said they deliver food to shut-ins who are not able to make it down to the church to pick it up. All of the food given outcomes from local food banks and from donations made to the church.
